Sultan AlNeyadi, one of the first astronauts from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) currently on a six-month mission to the International Space Station (ISS), shared a captivating image of India's capital, New Delhi, on the occasion of the country's 77th Independence Day. The image, captured during the night, showcased the illuminated cityscape of Delhi, forming a stunning map of the national capital.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), AlNeyadi conveyed his message, "To all Indians around the world, Happy Independence Day from the International Space Station! Sharing with you a capture of India's capital, New Delhi, from space." In a touching gesture, he also inscribed the word 'Namaste,' a salutation, in 11 Indian languages, including Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi.

The shared image captured the brilliance of Delhi illuminated at night, creating a mesmerizing visual of the city's layout. This portrayal of Delhi's lights shimmering against the dark backdrop garnered considerable attention online.
The image resonated with people worldwide, receiving over 240,000 views and garnering more than 7,500 likes. It was widely reposted by over a thousand individuals, indicating the significant impact of AlNeyadi's gesture.
This isn't the first instance of AlNeyadi sharing space images with a connection to India. Earlier in the same month, he treated the world to breathtaking images of the snow-covered Himalayas as viewed from space. The pictures showcased the grandeur of the Himalayas set against a backdrop of clouds, capturing the awe-inspiring beauty of nature from the vantage point of outer space.
In June of the current year, AlNeyadi had also shared images of Cyclone Biparjoy. Accompanying the pictures, he mentioned, "Here are some pictures of the cyclone #Biparjoy forming in the Arabian Sea that I clicked over two days from the International Space Station." These snapshots provided a unique perspective on the natural phenomenon, further showcasing AlNeyadi's commitment to sharing his space experiences with the world.
