Six outstanding educators from the northern region of India are set to be honored with the prestigious National Teachers' Award for 2023. These dedicated teachers, hailing from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir, have made significant contributions to the field of education and are being recognized for their exemplary work.

The awardees:

1. Amritpal Singh - A computer teacher at Government Senior Secondary School in Ludhiana, Punjab. With 17 years of teaching experience, Singh played a key role in the ICT Parwaz project, aimed at enhancing students' learning experiences through innovative assessment tools and mobile games. He is also known for fostering cultural connections among students through folk dance and music education and has authored four books in the field of computer science.

2. Bhupinder Kaur Gogia - The principal of Sat Paul Mittal School in Ludhiana, Punjab. With an impressive 32-year teaching career, Gogia has made a significant impact on various educational institutions. She holds a gold medal in MSc (applied mathematics) and additional degrees in PGDSM, B.Ed, and M.Ed.

3. Satyapal Singh - A science teacher at Government Senior Secondary School in Buroli, Rewari, Haryana. With 21 years of teaching experience, Singh has authored books for government school students, prepared science content for students and teachers, and even started a YouTube channel to provide study material. He received the Haryana State Teacher Award in 2021.

4. Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh - A teacher at Government Middle School Poshnari in Shangus, Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir. Sheikh has been instrumental in increasing girls' enrollment in the educationally and economically backward area of Poshnari. He encourages students to participate in co-curricular activities and has organized snow skiing courses for students.

5. Vijay Kumar - A mathematics lecturer at GSSS Mohtli, Indora, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Kumar started his own YouTube channel, "Skool Maths," during the COVID-19 pandemic to teach students online. He also played a pivotal role in setting up the Ramanajun Mathematics Park at his school and introduced smart classrooms.

These exceptional educators will be honored during a special ceremony on September 5th at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu will confer the awards, recognizing the transformative impact these teachers have had on the lives of their students.

Each recipient will receive a certificate of merit, a cash award of ₹50,000, and a prestigious silver medal as a token of the nation's appreciation for their remarkable contributions to education.
