In light of the anticipated surge of pilgrims during the Kanwar Yatra, educational institutions in Moradabad district have decided to remain closed from August 26 to August 28. This decision aims to mitigate the potential congestion and traffic caused by the procession.

Kanwar Yatra and its Significance

The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage taken by devotees, known as Kanwariyas, to places like Haridwar and Gaumukh. The yatra involves a grand procession of devotees carrying holy water from the Ganges River to offer at their local Shiva temples. After a hiatus of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's yatra is expected to draw a significant crowd.

Temporary Closure of Educational Institutions

Considering the influx of Kanwariyas during the sacred month of Sawan, the District Magistrate of Moradabad has announced a temporary closure of all schools and colleges from August 26 to August 28. The decision is aimed at ensuring the safety of students and managing the potential challenges posed by the large gatherings and increased traffic in the city.

Prioritizing Safety and Order

Given that the number of Kanwariyas is expected to rise rapidly starting from Saturday, authorities have taken precautionary measures to avoid any security or traffic-related issues. By closing educational institutions, the district aims to facilitate smoother traffic management and ensure the well-being of both students and the pilgrims.
