To tackle the concerning issue of suicides in Kota, a prominent coaching hub in Rajasthan, a committee has been formed under the leadership of Bhawani Singh Detha, the principal secretary of higher and technical education. In a recent virtual meeting, the committee discussed strategies to prevent these tragic incidents and recommended various measures to alleviate student stress and pressure.

Promoting Student Well-being

The committee has directed test preparation institutes in Kota to adopt innovative methods to reduce students' stress levels. This includes organizing fun activities that allow students to unwind after their classes. By infusing a sense of enjoyment, these activities aim to provide a much-needed break from the academic rigors.

Harnessing the Power of Motivation

Recognizing the role of motivation in students' mental well-being, the committee advised coaching institutes to upload motivational videos on online platforms. By making these videos easily accessible to students, the institutes intend to offer a source of inspiration and positivity, which can contribute to their emotional resilience.

Syllabus Reduction

To mitigate the burden of academic pressure, the committee proposed the consideration of syllabus reduction. This step aims to alleviate the intense workload that often contributes to stress and anxiety among students. By focusing on essential topics, students may find themselves better equipped to manage their studies without compromising their mental health.

Effective Recommendations: Chief Minister's Initiative

The committee's efforts are part of a broader initiative by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Given the urgency of the matter, the committee is expected to conduct an on-site visit to Kota to gain a deeper understanding of the issues faced by students in the coaching hub. The report, which is expected to be submitted within 15 days, will likely contain comprehensive recommendations to address the challenges and enhance student well-being.
