The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has issued a stern notice to taxi stand allottees who have neglected to clear their pending dues. According to the civic body, those who fail to meet their payment obligations risk losing their allotted taxi stands.

Terms violated, ultimatum issued

In a public notice, the civic body expressed its concern over allottees and occupiers of taxi stands in various sectors of Chandigarh, assigned by the MC, who have not fulfilled their financial obligations. The notice emphasized that these allottees, by failing to pay their dues to the corporation, have violated the terms and conditions of their allotments. Furthermore, it was highlighted that the allotment period for all taxi stands has now expired.

The notice clearly states, "This public notice is hereby given, granting a final opportunity to such allottees/occupiers who have not deposited the dues and/or whose allotment has expired, to deposit their outstanding amount within a period of 20 days from the issuance of this public notice. In case of non-deposition of said outstanding amount, the physical possession of the taxi stands will be taken over by the corporation, and legal action will be initiated against them in accordance with provisions of law."

Potential tender revival amidst payment violations

Earlier, the civic body had made efforts to float a fresh tender for all taxi stands. However, due to various pressures and considerations, this initiative was temporarily withdrawn. It is anticipated that this proposal may be revisited in the near future, driven by factors such as persistent violations in payment by the allottees.

The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation's move to address outstanding dues underscores the importance of compliance with terms and conditions set forth in such allotments. It serves as a reminder to allottees and occupiers of taxi stands to fulfill their financial commitments in a timely manner to avoid the risk of losing their designated spaces.
