Indian-American Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has proposed a bold strategy to address the challenge posed by China. He emphasizes the importance of preventing Russia from aligning too closely with Beijing and outlines a potential solution: offering a diplomatic deal to Moscow.
Ramaswamy's plan revolves around offering Russia a diplomatic deal as the United States' president. He suggests freezing the existing lines of control between Ukraine and Russia, committing that NATO will not admit Ukraine as a member, and lifting sanctions against Russia. In exchange, Russia would need to sever its military alliance with China.

According to Ramaswamy, the Russia-China military alliance represents one of the most significant threats to the United States. He draws a parallel to President Nixon's approach in 1972 and proposes pulling Russia away from China, urging Russia to withdraw its military presence from the Western Hemisphere. Ramaswamy believes that re-establishing economic relations with Russia is crucial to achieving this goal.
Ramaswamy argues that the US's wrongful actions, such as bombing the Nord Stream pipelines and imposing sanctions on Russia, have inadvertently pushed Russia closer to China. To weaken this partnership, he suggests reopening economic ties with Russia, providing fewer incentives for Russia to align with China. Additionally, Ramaswamy points out cracks in the China-Russia relationship, citing examples where Russia has taken actions that counter China's interests.

Notably, another Indian-origin Republican presidential candidate, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, criticized Ramaswamy's stance on US military force against Iran. Ramaswamy had expressed reservations about involving US troops in a war with Iran and emphasized the importance of making Israel strong to deter Iran.
Haley vehemently disagreed with this perspective, emphasizing the threat posed by Iran, which regularly calls for "Death to America." She cautioned against underestimating the dangers of a nuclear Iran and suggested that Ramaswamy aligns himself with those who do not prioritize American security interests.
