Honoring Dr. K. Sivan's leadership

In a significant development, esteemed space scientist and former ISRO chairman, Dr. K Sivan, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Governors at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore. Dr. Sivan will serve in this esteemed position for a period of three years, succeeding Professor Deepak B Phatak, whose tenure concluded on August 21.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore expressed its honor and excitement over Dr. K. Sivan's appointment in a tweet. Dr. Sivan, a distinguished figure who has served as the Chairperson of ISRO and Secretary of the Department of Space, brings a wealth of expertise and experience to his new role.

IIT Indore also extended its gratitude to Professor Deepak B Phatak for his remarkable leadership during his tenure as the Chairman of the Board of Governors. Professor Phatak's guidance and innovative solutions have significantly contributed to the institute's progress and achievements.

Dr. Suhas S Joshi, the Director of IIT Indore, highlighted the institute's vision and plans for collaboration with Dr. Sivan. He emphasized that this appointment comes at an opportune moment when India has achieved a historic milestone with the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3, showcasing the nation's prowess in space engineering.

Furthermore, Dr. Joshi revealed that IIT Indore has introduced ten new academic programs, including a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) program in Space Science and Engineering. This program, with an intake capacity of 20 students, including four women, reflects the institute's commitment to fostering talent in space-related fields.
