In the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, the local police made a significant arrest on Sunday by apprehending two overground workers (OGWs) affiliated with the notorious terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The individuals in custody have been identified as Tawseef Ramazan Bhat and Moien Amin Bhat, also known as Momin. Both hail from Sheeri, Baramulla, according to police sources.
During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated a Chinese pistol along with a magazine and 15 rounds of ammunition from Moien. Additionally, a hand grenade was discovered in the possession of Tawseef. The successful apprehension of these individuals was the result of a joint operation conducted by the Special Operations Group and the Army. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint checkpoint was established near the Shirkwara bus stop. The suspects were intercepted while walking in the vicinity of the Wagoora bridge. Sensing the presence of security forces, the two attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended by the alert checkpoint personnel.
During subsequent interrogation, Moien revealed that he had been in contact with a foreign terrorist named Usman and had provided medical treatment to him when Usman sustained injuries during an operation. Moien further disclosed that he had provided logistical support to Usman as well as another terrorist, Hilal Ahmed Sheikh, on multiple occasions. These revelations solidify the connection between the arrested individuals and Lashkar-e-Taiba, confirming their roles as overground workers for the terrorist organization.
