Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled a revamped mechanism for distributing nutritious food to Anganwadi centers throughout the state. Under the new system, women self-help groups have replaced the previous suppliers, which included the liquor mafia.
Addressing the National Nutrition Month program in Lucknow, Yogi Adityanath emphasized the state's commitment to nutrition. He revealed that the state had replaced the former liquor mafia suppliers with women self-help groups, ensuring the delivery of genuinely nutritious food to Anganwadi centers.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 1,359 Anganwadi centers, with a total cost of ₹155 crore. Additionally, he initiated the establishment of 171 child development project offices, with a budget of ₹50 crore. Yogi Adityanath also transferred ₹29 crore via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to provide uniforms (sarees) for 2.90 lakh Anganwadi workers and helpers.

Yogi Adityanath highlighted the significant progress made in Uttar Pradesh in addressing malnutrition and diseases like encephalitis over the past six years. He emphasized that the state, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, has been inspired to combat malnutrition more effectively.
The Chief Minister spoke about the state's achievements in reducing anaemia, dwarfism, underweight, and malnourishment. He credited the success to the concerted efforts to eradicate encephalitis, ensuring mothers and children receive nutritious food.
Yogi Adityanath shared the vision of making India the world's third-largest economy by 2027. He echoed Prime Minister Modi's goal of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, the centenary year of India's independence. To achieve this, he stressed the need to prioritize health, education, and economic capability.
The Chief Minister also engaged in several initiatives during the program, including honoring parents and infants, gifting uniforms to Anganwadi workers, and emphasizing the importance of fostering healthy communities.
