Foundation to inherit and sell

Under this succession strategy, Bloomberg intends for his foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, to inherit the company. Eventually, the foundation will sell the company. While Bloomberg is alive, he channels almost all of the company's profits into his foundation. However, upon his passing, the foundation will assume ownership of Bloomberg LP.

However, when reports surfaced last year suggesting his interest in acquiring Dow Jones or the Washington Post, his company promptly clarified that it had no such intentions.

Michael Bloomberg, during his marriage to Susan Brown from 1976 to 1993, became a father to two daughters, Emma and Georgina.

Beyond his business endeavors, Bloomberg has made substantial contributions to environmental causes. Notably, he has pledged to work towards the closure of every coal plant in the United States and a significant reduction in gas-fired capacity by 2030. This philanthropic commitment reflects his dedication to addressing pressing global challenges.
