Compensation for flood-affected families

In the wake of heavy rains causing flooding in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken swift action to provide relief to affected residents and businesses.

Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis has announced financial assistance of Rs 10,000 for families affected by the floods. This support aims to alleviate the immediate hardships faced by those affected by the inundation.

Aid for damaged roadside establishments

Small roadside establishments, which are often the livelihood of many, have also suffered damage due to the heavy rains. To aid these businesses, Fadnavis has pledged compensation of up to Rs 5 lakh for those with larger shops. This assistance is crucial in helping them rebuild and recover.

Nagpur, the largest city in Vidarbha, experienced exceptionally heavy rainfall, with 90 millimeters recorded in just two hours. Consequently, floodwaters entered around 10,000 homes, necessitating immediate action.

Authorities on high alert

In response to the flood situation, the administrative machinery and emergency response teams have been placed on high alert. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the city, indicating a high risk of continued rainfall and potential flooding.

Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis, along with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who represents the area in Parliament, chaired a review meeting to assess the situation and coordinate relief efforts. This collaborative approach underscores the government's commitment to addressing the needs of Nagpur's residents during this challenging time.

As Nagpur grapples with the aftermath of heavy rains and flooding, these relief measures aim to provide much-needed support to affected families and businesses, helping them rebuild and recover from the impact of the deluge.
