Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Western powers, through their support to Ukraine, are effectively engaged in direct combat with Moscow. Despite the term "hybrid war," Lavrov emphasized that the situation remains confrontational. While U.S. President Joe Biden aimed to avoid direct confrontation with Russia, Lavrov pointed to several factors indicating Western involvement in the conflict.
Lavrov highlighted the substantial Western military equipment sent to Ukraine since Russia's attack, along with the provision of intelligence support by the U.S. and Britain. The presence of Western military advisors further signifies their engagement in the conflict. Western nations, although not deploying troops directly, are deeply involved in bolstering Ukraine's capabilities.

Lavrov asserted that Westerners are essentially fighting against Russia by empowering Ukrainian forces with weaponry and support. He also mentioned the presence of Western mercenaries in Ukraine. Despite discouragement from their governments, some individuals from Western countries have taken it upon themselves to participate in the conflict.
During the United Nations General Assembly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sought greater international support against the Russian invasion. He proposed a 10-point plan for ending the war, which included a complete Russian withdrawal from Ukrainian territory and accountability for war crimes.
Lavrov dismissed Zelenskyy's plan as unrealistic and criticized the U.S. and European Union for endorsing it while failing to grasp the complexities of the situation. Lavrov implied that if negotiations failed, the conflict might continue on the battlefield, signaling a lack of willingness among Western powers to understand the Russian perspective.
In essence, Lavrov's statements underscore the deepening involvement of Western powers in the Ukraine-Russia conflict, despite their reluctance to deploy troops directly. The situation remains complex, with diplomatic efforts facing significant challenges.
