The district administration in Nainital, Uttarakhand, is taking proactive steps to address the threat of landslides in the vicinity of Charlton Lodge near the Mallital area. Following a site inspection conducted by a team of geologists, it has been identified that inadequate drainage systems played a significant role in triggering landslides in the area.
On Sunday, geologist Deependra Singh Chand and officials from various departments, including irrigation, administration, and district development authority, assessed the site affected by landslides at Charlton Lodge. During their inspection, the team observed cracks in the area and evaluated the drainage system. It was suspected that the absence of an efficient sewage and water drainage system contributed to the landslides.
