In the early hours of Tuesday, a significant fire broke out at Nehru Hospital in PGIMER Chandigarh. Thankfully, there were no casualties or injuries reported, as around 415 patients, including pregnant women, were evacuated late at night.

The fire started around 12:30 am on the hospital's ground floor, which housed approximately 200 patients, including pregnant women and newborns. The source of the fire was a computer UPS, and it spread rapidly. However, quick action by the hospital staff ensured the safe evacuation of all patients.

Swift response by firefighters

Chandigarh administration's fire tenders swiftly arrived at the scene, successfully extinguishing the fire before it could cause significant damage. It took approximately 30 minutes to control the blaze.

Dr. Vivek Lal, the director of PGIMER, stated that restoration efforts have been initiated, and a committee has been formed to address the situation. The hospital is working diligently to return to normalcy after this unfortunate incident.

In summary, a fire broke out in Nehru Hospital's ground floor, but due to the quick response of the hospital staff and firefighters, all patients were evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported. Efforts to restore normalcy are already in progress.
