Delhi-based archer Abhishek Verma achieved a remarkable feat by winning a silver medal in the men's compound team event at the Asian Games 2022. He now returns to a grand welcome at the Delhi airport, greeted with dhols and garlands. This warm reception has left him feeling overwhelmed and proud of his accomplishments.
Verma's archery journey is rooted in his fascination with the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, the epic Indian mythological stories. He has been inspired by legendary archers like Arjun and Eklavya, as he grew up listening to their tales. Verma states, "My curiosity towards Ramayana and Mahabharata inspired me to learn archery when I started in 2002. It has been 20 years since then, and even today, it is Arjun from Mahabharata who inspires me. We all grow up listening to the great stories of such fighters, and I wanted to be just like them."
