The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) has given the green light to a total of 303 sportspersons representing India in the upcoming Asian Para Games. This contingent spans across 17 diverse sporting disciplines. Additionally, 143 coaches, escorts, officials, and support staff have been cleared to accompany the athletes to the event.
The group of athletes consists of 191 males and 112 females. Notably, the largest contingent of 123 athletes is set to compete in Athletics events. In a significant development, India is participating in a record seventeen different disciplines at the Asian Para Games. This includes five sports – Canoe, Blind Football, Lawn Bowls, Rowing, and Taekwondo – that the nation will compete in for the first time.
In the last edition of the Asian Para Games in 2018, India's presence was marked by 190 athletes across 13 sporting events. Their efforts culminated in an impressive medal tally of 72, including 15 Golds.

A send-off ceremony celebrated these athletes and instilled them with encouragement and determination as they prepared to participate in the forthcoming Asian Para Games. The inclusion of new disciplines and India's past successes have heightened expectations for a groundbreaking performance in the upcoming event.
The historic performance by the Indian contingent at the recent Asian Games, where they secured 107 medals, has fueled the hopes and determination of the para-athletes, coaches, and support staff. It is believed that the fourth Asian Para Games will surpass previous records and become the most successful in the history of Para Games in India.
As India's 309 para-athletes gear up for the Asian Para Games, the entire nation stands in solidarity with them. With the backing of the government and the Paralympic Committee of India, these athletes are poised to create history, serve as inspirations to others, and make India proud on the international stage.
