Ravana effigies will be set ablaze at 25 different locations in the city of Chandigarh as part of the Dussehra celebrations. The festivities are set to include the grand spectacle of towering effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad, some of which stand at heights between 60 to 70 feet in Sector 46 and Sector 34. At other locations, the effigies will be below 60 feet in height.

The celebrations in Sector 46 are scheduled to start around 4 pm, with Chandigarh's Director General of Police, Parveer Ranjan, serving as the chief guest. Similar celebrations will be held at other locations from 4 pm to 6 pm, allowing residents and visitors to witness the effigy burnings at various grounds and venues across the city.

Effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakaran, and Meghnad will be burnt at Ramlila Ground Sector 27, Sabji Mandi Sector 29, Dussehra Ground Sector 29, Masjid ground Phase 2 Ramdarbar, near Valmiki Mandir Sector 24, Shri Laxmi Narayan Mandir Sector 22, Dhanas, Panjab University, Milk Colony, Dhanas, Sai Baba Mandir Khudda Lohara, and Market Ground Sector 15.

Celebrations in Mohali

In addition to Chandigarh, Mohali will also celebrate Dussehra with an 80-foot Ravana effigy at Sector 77 ground, focusing on the message of drug eradication. Meanwhile, Panchkula will feature the country's tallest Ravana effigy at 171 feet in Shalimar Ground, Sector 5. This colossal effigy was crafted with significant effort and dedication, using eco-friendly firecrackers.

The UT administration has permitted the use of green firecrackers from 4 pm to 6 pm. Fireworks are prohibited in silence zones, which include areas near hospitals, educational institutions, and religious places. Violations will result in immediate penal action under various relevant acts and regulations.
