Singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan praised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during the annual Vijayadashami Utsav event in Nagpur. As the chief guest at the event, he commended the RSS for its role in preserving India's culture, traditions, and the ideology of 'Akhand Bharat'. Mahadevan expressed his gratitude and said, "What can I say on it? I can only salute you. The contribution of the RSS is greater than anyone in preserving our ideology of 'Akhand Bharat,' our traditions, our culture."
He began his speech with a rendition of Saraswati Vandana, a prayer to the goddess of knowledge, and chanted the mantra 'Om Asatoma Sadgamaya' for world peace. He emphasized the importance of peace in India.

During his visit, Shankar Mahadevan also visited the memorial of RSS founder Dr. K. B. Hedgewar in Nagpur and appreciated the coordination and organization of the Sangh's Dussehra program. He expressed his pride in being an Indian citizen and thanked RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat for the warm invitation.
In a separate part of the event, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat performed 'Shastra Pooja' on Vijayadashami Utsav. He questioned the sudden outbreak of violence in Manipur and suggested that external forces might be involved. Bhagwat also cautioned against using emotional appeals for votes in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections, urging voters to consider unity, integrity, identity, and the country's development.
