In an extraordinary achievement, Indian para-athletes made history at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou by claiming their 100th medal. Dilip Mahadu Gavit secured this milestone by winning a gold medal in the Men's 400m T47 event with a remarkable time of 49.48 seconds.

This marks the most successful Para Asian Games campaign for India, with a total of 26 gold, 29 silver, and 45 bronze medals. The previous record was set at the 2018 Para Games in Jakarta, with a total of 72 medals, including 15 golds, 24 silvers, and 33 bronzes.

PM Modi's reaction

The achievement was celebrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who commended the athletes for their hard work and determination. He stated that their success serves as an inspiration and a reminder that nothing is impossible for India's youth.

The impressive medal tally includes victories in various sports, with Indian athletes excelling in rowing, swimming, badminton, and archery. The last day of the Games saw rowers Anita and Narayana Konganapalle secure a silver medal in PR3 Mixed Doubles Sculls.
