In a remarkable feat, 22-year-old Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar clinched the gold medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions individual event at the Asian Shooting Championship held in Changwon, Korea. Additionally, his outstanding performance contributed to India's achievement of a team silver medal.

Tomar demonstrated exceptional marksmanship by scoring 463.5 points in the final, securing the gold medal. He outperformed China's Tian Jiaming, who secured the silver with a score of 462.7, and another Chinese contestant, Du Linshu, who took the bronze with a score of 450.3.

Qualification round

In the qualification round, Tomar finished fifth with a total score of 591, an impressive display of skill and precision.

Tomar, along with his Indian teammates Swapnil Kusale and Akhil Sheoran, also contributed to India's success by winning the team silver. Their combined score reached 1764, placing them second in the team standings, just behind China, which achieved a total score of 1777.

Olympic quota places

India's performance in the event has already secured two potential Olympic quota places. Swapnil Kusale earned a quota place during the World Championships in Cairo last year, while Akhil Sheoran achieved the same in this year's World Championships in Baku. These quota places are crucial for Indian shooters' participation in the upcoming Olympic Games, showcasing their excellence on the international stage.
