Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal conducted a surprise check at the Municipal Corporation (MC) office in Sector 14, leading to the suspension of two employees, and show-cause notices issued to 15 others. The mayor expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of employees, including those from the establishment, audit, accounts, and sanitation branches.
During the inspection, irregularities in attendance were uncovered, with some employees falsely marking Saturday as a holiday in the attendance register. This action contradicted the instructions issued by the MC commissioner, who mandated their presence on Saturdays to address residents' concerns. Additionally, certain absent employees were falsely marked as present in the register.

Mayor Goyal promptly wrote a letter to the commissioner, recommending the suspension of assistant Ajay and driver Mandeep. He also called for explanations from the remaining employees regarding their absence during the surprise check.
This incident follows a similar surprise inspection at the Sector 4 MC office on November 23, where two employees were suspended, and notices were issued to 20 others due to their absence. The mayor emphasized the importance of maintaining a disciplined and accountable work environment in MC offices to serve the public effectively.
