Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti contested the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the central government's abrogation of Article 370, emphasizing that it is not akin to divine judgment. She reiterated her party, the PDP, would persist in its efforts to restore special status to Jammu and Kashmir, dismissing the verdict as not equivalent to God's will.

PDP's determination despite setback

Mufti expressed resilience, stating that despite the Supreme Court's ruling, her party would not lose heart. Dismissing the judiciary's decision, she highlighted the earlier stance of the Supreme Court on Article 370's amendment, asserting that the recent ruling should not be treated as divine.

"We don't have to lose heart. We will continue our struggle. The Supreme Court is not God," Mufti asserted, questioning the variability in judicial opinions over time.

Political figures express disappointment

The former CM had previously labeled the verdict as a "death sentence" not only for Jammu and Kashmir but for the idea of India. Despite the setback, Mufti urged people not to lose hope, emphasizing the longstanding political struggle in the region.
