In response to the anticipated intensification of the cold wave in the state, the Haryana Government has declared winter vacation for all government and private schools from January 1 to January 15, 2024. The decision aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students during the severe cold conditions expected in the coming days.
According to a circular issued by the state administration, schools are scheduled to reopen on January 16, 2024. The announcement was shared by the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s office on social media. The circular emphasizes that the decision is prompted by the increasing cold weather and aims to provide a safer environment for students and staff.

The official circular issued by the state administration instructs all district education officers, district elementary education officers, and principals to adhere to the guidelines during the winter vacation period. The government's proactive approach ensures that the educational institutions align with safety measures and contribute to the well-being of the students.
As of Friday, minimum temperatures in most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi were recorded in the range of 4-8°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD predicts a rise of about 2°C in minimum temperatures over the next 24 hours. Additionally, dense fog is expected in the morning in isolated pockets of Haryana on December 24 and 25, highlighting the importance of precautions and safety measures during the ongoing cold wave.
