Bathinda in Punjab recorded the coldest temperature at 6.2 degrees Celsius, while Narnaul in Haryana reported the lowest temperature at 6.4 degrees Celsius. A pervasive cold snap has settled over both states, casting a chilly atmosphere.
A thick blanket of fog descended over several parts of Punjab and Haryana on Monday, causing reduced visibility in the early hours. Cities like Sirsa, Bhiwani, Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Patiala experienced dense fog, creating challenges for commuters, as stated by a meteorological official in Chandigarh.

Narnaul in Haryana witnessed a minimum temperature of 6.4 degrees Celsius, with Rohtak and Fatehabad also experiencing cold weather at 7.6 and 7 degrees Celsius, respectively. In Punjab, Pathankot recorded 6.5 degrees, Faridkot 7.5, Gurdaspur 6.7, Amritsar 7.2, Ludhiana 7.1, and Patiala 8.7 degrees Celsius.
Amritsar, home to the iconic Golden Temple, saw temperatures drop to 7.2 degrees Celsius, with devotees taking a dip in the holy sarovar despite the chilly weather.
The common capital of both states, Chandigarh, reported a low temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius, adding to the overall winter chill in the region. As residents grapple with the cold, the meteorological conditions indicate ongoing cold weather across Punjab and Haryana.
