In a tragic incident possibly caused by fog, a couple lost their lives on Tuesday morning around 8:30 am near J-block traffic lights of Aerocity. The couple, identified as Rajnish Goyal (50) and Nishu (48), were crushed by a tipper while heading to open their grocery shop in Aerocity's Signature tower. The accident took place on their two-wheeler, resulting in their immediate demise. The police have registered a case and are actively investigating the matter. The deceased couple, survived by their son and daughter, were regulars at their shop.

Speeding tanker claims biker's life

On Monday evening, a speeding tanker collided with a tractor-trailer and a bike near Basauli village, resulting in the death of the biker, Mahendra Singh (49). The tanker driver fled the scene after the collision. Mahendra was on his two-wheeler when the tanker rammed into the tractor-trailer, pushing it into nearby fields. The collision also involved Mahendra's bike, leading to his tragic demise. The police are investigating the incident based on the tractor driver's statement, and a case has been filed against the absconding tanker driver.

Other tragic incidents in the region

In a separate incident, a 58-year-old man named Sunehri Lal succumbed to injuries sustained after being hit by a speeding Haryana roadways bus on December 24. The bus driver fled the scene, and a case has been registered against the accused. Additionally, a 29-year-old man, Vikas Kumar, lost his life after being hit by an SUV at the Motor Market in Sector 48, Chandigarh, while waiting for his car to be repaired. The SUV driver, Sudesh Bhardwaj, has been booked for causing death due to negligence. These unfortunate incidents highlight the need for road safety measures in the Mohali region.
