In preparation for the upcoming Paris Olympics, the ad hoc committee appointed by the Indian Olympic Association announced that the national camp for senior men and women wrestlers will kick off on February 9. The men's camp, covering both Greco Roman and freestyle categories, will take place in SAI NRC Sonepat, Haryana, while the women's camp will be held at SAI NSNIS Patiala.
The camp follows the Senior National Championships scheduled in Jaipur from February 2-5, offering a comprehensive training ground for medallist wrestlers across 30 weight divisions. The focus of the national camp is to prepare wrestlers for the upcoming Olympic qualifying tournaments, including the Asian Qualification Tournament in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from April 19-21, and the World Qualification Tournament in Istanbul from May 9-12. Additionally, preparation for the Asian Championships in Bishkek from April 11-16 is also on the agenda.

Despite the committee's efforts, Sanjay Singh, president of the suspended Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has declared his intent to organize parallel nationals, expressing his non-recognition of the ad hoc panel. The three-member committee, formed by the IOA under the direction of the union sports ministry, faces resistance from Singh, who claims the suspension challenges established rules. He awaits a response from the ministry and has suggested a legal challenge if the suspension is upheld. The wrestling community's anticipation remains high, with the national camps serving as crucial preparation grounds for the wrestlers eyeing Olympic qualification.
