Former Union minister and prominent Congress leader, Pawan Kumar Bansal, expressed strong objection to the Union health ministry's refusal to revive 102 positions at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Chandigarh’s Sector 32. Bansal accused the government of intentionally delaying the recruitment process in crucial health institutions in Chandigarh, including PGIMER, GMCH-32, and GMSH-16.
Bansal highlighted the worsening health system in the city, pointing out that despite 34 faculty vacancies and 68 other open positions at GMCH-32, the Union health ministry canceled the proposal instead of filling them. He criticized the government for not fulfilling the promise of creating job opportunities for the youth, citing the contradiction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to providing jobs to 2 crore youths annually and the current situation.

Bansal also drew attention to the continuous staff shortages in various UT administration departments, leading to 115 clerks and stenographers leaving their jobs due to reduced grade pay. He criticized the policies that created unfavorable conditions for existing employees. Additionally, Bansal questioned the effectiveness of MP Kirron Kher's initiative to raise the age limit for government jobs in Chandigarh to 35 years, calling for transparency on the number of jobs created in response to this change over the past decade.
