In a shocking incident, a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) identified as Prakash was suspended after physically assaulting a passenger onboard the Barauni-Lucknow Express. The altercation occurred between Gonda and Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh.
The TTE, Prakash, was captured on video continuously slapping the passenger and grabbing him by the neck. The video, which went viral on social media, prompted outrage and swift action. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed "zero tolerance for such misconduct" and announced the suspension of the TTE.
According to railway officials, the assault stemmed from the passenger not having a proper ticket for the class he was traveling in. The Lucknow Division Public Relations Officer (PRO) clarified that Prakash, a Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector (DCTI), was not authorized to travel in that particular class with the ticket the passenger had purchased. The railway authorities took immediate action, suspending Prakash and initiating an inquiry.
In addition to the physical assault, Prakash was also seen in another video hurling abuses at the passenger and questioning if he was from the media. The incident has raised concerns about passenger safety and the conduct of railway staff. The Indian Railways assured a thorough investigation, vowing to take the strictest action against the suspended TTE.
