In a groundbreaking initiative, a space lab has been established at Government Senior Secondary School in Ghumarwin, Bilaspur, marking a significant step in introducing young minds to emerging technologies. Developed under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) space tutor program by Vyomika Space Academy, the lab is funded by the Bilaspur district administration.

Hands-on learning for rural students

Equipped with exhibits from ISRO's missions, including Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan, the space lab aims to provide hands-on learning experiences in robotics, drone making, 3D printing, and more. The lab was inaugurated by Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani and is part of an effort to spark an interest in space science and technology among students in rural and semi-urban areas.

Bilaspur's Additional Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Patel, who conceptualized the project, expressed enthusiasm about launching the space lab in a government school. The goal is to nurture talent from northern regions and bridge the gap in space science representation. The Vyomika Space Academy, in collaboration with ISRO, will facilitate sessions and lectures by space science experts, exposure visits, and enriching learning experiences for the students.

Supporting National Education Policy

The space lab project aligns with ISRO's efforts to support the National Education Policy. Vyomika Space CEO Govind Yadav highlighted that the lab covers space sciences, aviation, and automation. The curriculum includes projects and training in various fields, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for the students. Annual training for teachers and students, career counseling seminars, and industry exposure visits to ISRO facilities contribute to the sustainability of the space lab initiative. The long-term aim is to replicate the project in other schools and encourage more students to explore and engage with space technology.
