Spread across 7,200 square meters, the plant has a capacity to process 300 tonnes of waste per day, aiming to handle the city's growing waste generation.
The compost plant, completed in just five months, signifies the Municipal Corporation's dedication to waste management. Additionally, measures such as constructing a wall around the dumping ground and addressing leachate issues demonstrate the municipality's commitment to environmental health and community well-being.
Efforts to address legacy waste, accumulated over the years, have also been underway. Through collaboration with the Central Pollution Control Board, the municipal body initiated bioremediation of legacy waste, successfully clearing 11 lakh metric tonnes to date. The remaining waste is slated for clearance by March 31, 2024, further contributing to the city's cleanliness and sustainability goals.
