Air India proudly stated that over 15% of its cockpit crew are women, positioning the airline as one of the leaders in terms of female pilots. Additionally, women make up a significant portion of the overall workforce, constituting 51% of Air India's employees. The airline expressed pride in the increased representation of women across various roles since its return to the Tata group, with significant growth observed in recent years.
To inspire and engage its women employees, Air India organized a week-long series of programs featuring webinars and live sessions with experts from diverse fields. These sessions aimed to provide wider awareness and inspiration to women employees, encouraging their professional and personal growth.
As a special gesture for its female customers, Air India Express offered free seat selection and priority boarding services through its mobile app and website on International Women's Day. Additionally, the airline's loyalty program, Flying Returns, provided women members with a fast-track opportunity to upgrade to the Silver Edge Club, offering exclusive benefits such as additional reward points, complimentary upgrades, and priority check-in services.
This year, International Women's Day was celebrated under the theme "Invest in women: Accelerate Progress," emphasizing the importance of investing in women's empowerment and advancement to drive societal progress and development.
