The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a change in weather conditions for Chandigarh, with temperatures expected to rise after experiencing cold wave conditions last week. IMD Chandigarh director AK Singh explained that the recent snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir resulted in cold winds blowing through the region. Additionally, an active western disturbance (WD) led to rain earlier in the week.
Despite the temporary halt in cold winds, a fresh western disturbance is expected to affect the region starting Tuesday, bringing with it the possibility of rain on Wednesday. However, dry weather is anticipated from Thursday onwards. The recent rains and cloudy weather have prevented a significant drop in night temperatures, which had reached a five-year low of 7.2°C on March 4. Although day temperatures may decrease slightly, a drastic fall is not expected.

Looking ahead, Singh suggested that by the end of the month, maximum temperatures could reach up to 30°C. This indicates a gradual increase in temperatures as the city transitions from the colder conditions experienced earlier. While the nights may remain relatively warmer due to the recent precipitation and cloud cover, daytime temperatures are expected to stabilize, providing some relief from the cold wave experienced earlier in the week.

In summary, Chandigarh residents can expect a shift in weather patterns with temperatures gradually rising and rain likely around Wednesday due to the influence of a western disturbance. Despite the recent cold wave conditions, temperatures are forecasted to normalize, with daytime temperatures expected to stabilize in the coming days.
