Hundreds of people, including politicians from Punjab and Haryana, gathered at Muktsar’s Badal village to mark the first death anniversary of former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. INLD leader Om Prakash Chautala, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, and BJP Punjab Chief Sunil Jakhar paid homage to the Akali patriarch, who passed away last year due to age-related issues.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Badal remembered his father as a "true nationalist" and a devout Sikh, emphasizing his role in Punjab's development and his inclusive approach to governance. Sukhbir expressed his commitment to continue his father's legacy of service to Punjab and its people.

Addressing the gathering, BJP Punjab Chief Sunil Jakhar praised Parkash Singh Badal's efforts in maintaining communal harmony and promoting inclusive development in Punjab. He emphasized the importance of electing visionary leaders for the state's progress.
Former Chief Minister Chautala recalled his personal bond with Badal, highlighting Badal's significant contributions to agricultural policy-making. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami called for unity among political parties to strengthen the SAD and protect institutions like the SGPC from external threats.

Senior Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa echoed the sentiments of unity and strength, emphasizing the need to thwart attempts to weaken the SAD and SGPC.
