Police in Mataur, Mohali, have filed charges against 20 men for allegedly firing at the owner of a music company outside Homeland Heights in Sector 70. Among them are Jaspreet Singh Sethi, Chan Sohi, Paramvir Singh Dhaliwal, Vivek, and Gill, while the identities of 15 others remain unknown.

Background of the incident

Gurwinder Singh, owner of RG Records music company and a resident of Homeland Heights, lodged the complaint against the accused. He stated that Jaspreet Singh Sethi held a grudge against him for starting his own music company.

On the night of the incident, Gurwinder, along with his brother Sukhwinder Singh and Loveleen Tur, were near Jubilee Walk in Sector 70. Hasanpreet Singh from Phase 5 approached Gurwinder inquiring about his relationship with Jaspreet Singh Sethi. Gurwinder informed Hasanpreet of their severed ties, after which Hasanpreet left.

Shortly after, Jaspreet called Gurwinder and asked to meet outside Homeland Heights. When Jaspreet arrived with three masked men in a Mahindra Thar, Gurwinder directed him to Gate Number 2. Subsequently, more men arrived in various vehicles, all with their faces covered.

The attack

Jaspreet confronted Gurwinder, hurling abuses and ordering his men to kill him. Six shots were fired at Gurwinder, who narrowly avoided them. The commotion attracted a crowd, prompting the assailants to flee after issuing death threats to Gurwinder.

Mohali SSP Sandeep Garg stated that raids are underway to apprehend the accused. The victim and the main accused have a history of animosity, and the motive behind the attack is yet to be fully understood. However, they are also involved in an ongoing court case.

All accused individuals face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempted murder, criminal intimidation, rioting, unlawful assembly, and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
