The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Narendra Modi-led central government of engaging in intimidation tactics ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Senior AAP leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the Delhi Police, under the Union Home Ministry, is restricting the movement of party leaders, including access to their party office and official residences.

Calls for Election Commission intervention

Bharadwaj claimed that AAP leaders, including Atishi, were stopped by the police while going about their routine activities. He emphasized that such actions hinder the party's ability to participate effectively in the elections. AAP has sought intervention from the Election Commission of India, urging the neutral agency to address the matter promptly.

Atishi shared a video on social media showing a confrontation between AAP leaders and Delhi Police officers. In the video, Atishi argues with the police officer while some AAP leaders protest by lying down on the road. The incident escalates as one leader shouts for the police to shoot them. AAP condemned the police's actions, accusing the Modi government of attempting to suppress their participation in the elections.

Strong response from AAP

AAP criticized the Modi government's alleged intimidation tactics, stating that such actions go against the principles of a fair electoral process promised by the Constitution. The party warned that if their leaders and workers are allowed to continue operating, they will challenge the government's authority. AAP's response underscores the heightened tension between the party and the central government in the run-up to the elections.
