Two incidents of sexual assault against women have been reported in Chandigarh and Mohali.
In Chandigarh, a Ludhiana man named Sukhwinder Singh, 32, along with his friend Akash, 35, were arrested by the police for allegedly gang-raping a female friend. The victim had known Sukhwinder for six months, and he invited her to watch an IPL match at a hotel in Sector 43. However, upon reaching the hotel room, she found Akash present as well. The duo then allegedly raped her, prompting her to call the police. The police swiftly responded to the scene and arrested both suspects. They have been charged under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.

In Mohali, an astrologer named Tejinderpal Singh and his assistant Happy Singh were booked by the police for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The victim, a 17-year-old with a physical disability from Yamunanagar, Haryana, was promised treatment by Tejinderpal Singh. However, instead of providing treatment, the astrologer allegedly sexually assaulted her in an isolated room while his assistant prevented anyone from entering. The victim's health deteriorated upon returning home, and she eventually disclosed the incident to her family. The local police were alerted, and a case was registered under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Zirakpur police station. Authorities are currently investigating the case and working to apprehend the accused.
