After Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) smashed a staggering 277/3 in 20 overs against Mumbai Indians (MI), breaking Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) previous record for the highest-ever IPL total, RCB took to their social media accounts to acknowledge the remarkable feat.
On their official X account, formerly Twitter, RCB posted a message congratulating SRH on their historic achievement. They wrote, “Our Head’s spinning. Klass innings! Congratulations on setting a new bench-mark! Sharmao Mat (It's okay), records are meant to be broken. Well done, @SunRisers.”
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag also chimed in on the onslaught from the SRH batters. He praised the exceptional ball-striking abilities of the SRH players and highlighted Heinrich Klaasen's consistency as one of the best in the format.

Travis Head's explosive innings, where he scored 62 off just 24 balls, set the tone for SRH's massive total. Abhishek Sharma's quickfire 63 off 23 balls and Klaasen's unbeaten 80 off 34 deliveries further solidified SRH's position. Abhishek's fifty, achieved in just 16 balls, broke Head's record for the fastest fifty in SRH's history.
Despite being initially omitted from the playing eleven, Travis Head's stellar performance showcased his prowess as an attacking batter. Aiden Markram's contribution with 42 off 28 balls also played a crucial role in SRH's dominating performance.

The match marked Mumbai Indians' first under new captain Hardik Pandya, who took over from the experienced Rohit Sharma. Both MI and SRH started the IPL 2024 edition with a loss each, adding significance to their clash.
The match also held personal significance for Rohit Sharma, as it marked his 200th appearance for Mumbai Indians in the T20 tournament, where he has led the team to all five of their IPL titles.
