Authorities are tightening measures to enforce the Model Code of Conduct ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. This includes restrictions on individuals carrying large amounts of cash without proper documentation to prevent any attempts to influence voters with cash, liquor, or other items.
During routine checks at a checkpoint near the Sector 35/36 roundabout, officials intercepted a Swift Dzire car with Haryana registration number HR91C0433. The driver, identified as Raj Kumar, and his companion, Des Raj, both from Karnal, were found in possession of ₹35.21 lakh, including foreign currency equivalent to 15,000 US Dollars, 6000 Australian Dollars, and 7000 UK Pounds.
