Kankar Munjare, a Lok Sabha candidate from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat constituency, has decided to stay away from his wife, Anubha Munjare, who is a Congress MLA. They've chosen to live separately due to their differing political ideologies during the upcoming general elections. This decision comes despite them living together during past assembly elections.

Living apart during elections

Munjare believes that two individuals with contrasting ideologies shouldn't reside together during election times. He made the choice to leave their home and is currently staying in a hut near a dam until polling day on April 19. He expressed concerns that if people see them living together, it might create the perception of collusion or "match-fixing" between parties.

However, Anubha Munjare is unhappy with this decision. She expressed being hurt by her husband's stance, especially considering their 33-year-long marriage and their past experiences of living together during elections. Anubha, who won against BJP's candidate in the previous assembly election, emphasized her loyalty to the Congress party. She pledged her support to ensure the victory of the Congress candidate, Samrat Saraswat, in the Lok Sabha polls from Balaghat. Despite their differences, she made it clear that she won't speak ill of her husband during the campaign.

The General Election context

The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled in seven phases, starting from April 19 and continuing until June 1, with the counting of votes set for June 4. As the political landscape intensifies, relationships like the Munjares' reflect the complexities and tensions that arise, especially when family members are affiliated with different political parties.
