Air India took disciplinary action against a female pilot, suspending her for three months due to failing the pre-flight breath analyser test. The pilot, serving as a first officer for Boeing 787 flights, reportedly failed the test before a Delhi to Hyderabad flight.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) mandates pre-flight breath analyser tests for all crew members. Penalties for failing these tests are strict. A first-time failure results in a three-month suspension from flying duties.

DGCA also revised regulations regarding alcohol consumption by crew members. They must avoid any substance with alcohol content without consulting the company doctor. This includes medications, mouthwash, tooth gel, or similar products.
