Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has expressed confidence in Yashasvi Jaiswal's ability to bounce back in the ongoing IPL 2024 season, despite a slow start. Jaiswal, known for his stellar performances in the previous IPL edition and a remarkable Test series against England, is yet to find his rhythm in this year's tournament.

Slow start in IPL 2024

So far, Jaiswal has not managed to score a fifty-plus in the 17th edition of the IPL. His struggle for form contrasts with his batting partner Jos Buttler's turnaround, who recently notched up a match-winning hundred against RCB.

Speaking to Star Sports, Gavaskar acknowledged the challenge of transitioning from Test cricket to the fast-paced T20 format. He emphasized the importance of Jaiswal delivering strong performances for Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the top of the order.

Confidence amid concern

While Jaiswal has only scored 39 runs in the 4 matches for RR so far, Gavaskar remains optimistic. He believes Jaiswal's bat will soon speak loudly, indicating a return to form. Gavaskar also noted that RR has a solid performer in Riyan Parag, who has scored 185 runs in 4 matches this season.

Despite the slow start, Gavaskar trusts Jaiswal's potential to excel and contribute significantly to RR's success. With half of the matches remaining in the tournament, there's optimism that Jaiswal will find his groove and make an impact as he did in the previous IPL edition.
