With just 20 days remaining until the polling day in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi and Rae Bareli, the Congress party has yet to announce its candidates for these significant constituencies. These areas have traditionally been strongholds of the Gandhi family in the state.
As the deadline for nomination filing approaches on May 3, the suspense over Congress's candidate selection continues. A senior Congress leader hinted that the names might be revealed on Tuesday.

Similarly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not announced its candidate for Rae Bareli. This delay comes despite Union Minister Smriti Irani filing her nomination from Amethi, where she defeated Rahul Gandhi in 2019, leaving Sonia Gandhi as the sole Congress MP from Uttar Pradesh.
The lack of clarity from the Congress regarding their candidates for Rae Bareli and Amethi has sparked speculation among political circles. Some anticipate surprises when the announcements are finally made. Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge hinted at the possibility of a surprise in these constituencies, adding to the intrigue surrounding the upcoming polls.
