IndiGo, a popular low-cost airline in India, has announced a special bonus for its employees to recognize their exceptional performance in the fiscal year 2024. In the May 2024 salary, employees will receive a one-time bonus equivalent to 1.5 times their monthly salary, given as an ex-gratia payment.

Recognition for outstanding performance

This bonus comes as a token of appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the employees, especially during challenging times like the Covid-19 pandemic. IndiGo attributes the decision to its solid financial performance, marked by a significant recovery from pandemic-induced losses since the second half of 2022.

Since then, the airline has shown remarkable resilience and achieved strong financial results. In the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024, IndiGo reported a remarkable 110% surge in profits, reflecting a growing demand for air travel. Standalone profits for the quarter soared to Rs 2,998 crore, demonstrating a substantial increase from the previous year.
