Manish Tewari, the Congress candidate for Chandigarh, recently addressed members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at an event. He assured them that if the Congress came to power, simplifying and modifying the Goods and Services Tax (GST) would be a top priority.
Tewari emphasized that the Congress has a history of fostering a favorable business environment, aiming to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and tax-related uncertainties for businesses. He pledged to continue this approach, ensuring a conducive atmosphere for trade and commerce.
During the interaction, CII members raised concerns about the underutilization of Mohali International Airport and suggested better coordination between Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula administrations to enhance the region's business-friendly ecosystem. They also presented a document titled "Growth Agenda for Chandigarh," outlining key recommendations such as increasing international flights from Chandigarh, establishing a world-class convention center, and developing the Greater Chandigarh Region (GCR).

Tewari was also honored by the Federation of Sector Welfare Associations Chandigarh (FOSWAC) at a separate event. Representatives from various Resident Welfare Associations highlighted issues faced by city residents and urged prompt resolution. Tewari assured them that upon becoming Chandigarh's MP, addressing these concerns and prioritizing the city's development would be his foremost commitment. He emphasized his deep connection to Chandigarh and his determination to tackle its challenges effectively.
Additionally, Tewari engaged with residents and shopkeepers during a foot march in Sector 46, further demonstrating his commitment to understanding and addressing local issues firsthand. Overall, Tewari's engagements underscore his dedication to promoting a business-friendly environment, addressing residents' concerns, and driving Chandigarh's development if elected as its representative.
