Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during poll rallies in Gohana (Sonipat) and Ambala, Haryana, intensified his attack on the Opposition. He stated that the Congress should forget about bringing back Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and was scrapped in August 2019. Modi warned that restoring Article 370 would lead to bloodshed and give terrorism a free hand.

At a rally in Gohana, Modi said, “During the Congress’s 10-year rule, ceasefire violations were frequent, but they stopped after I came to power. This happened because of your vote. The enemy’s weapons are now ineffective.”

Modi emphasized that he had given Haryana’s youth, who protect the borders, the authority to fire at enemies without counting bullets. He criticized Congress leaders, accusing them of being spokespersons for Pakistan and asked the crowd if India should fear Pakistan. Modi claimed that Congress, out of power for ten years, is bewildered and still clinging to the past when a “royal family” controlled the government.

Criticism of Congress and election appeals

Modi accused Congress of trying to stop the construction of the Ram temple for 500 years and said they declined the invitation to the temple's consecration. He urged voters not to support those who rejected the invitation. He also criticized the Congress for its alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), pointing out their contradictory stances in different states.

In Ambala, Modi asked voters to support BJP candidates, stating that every vote ultimately supports him. He remembered Rattan Lal Kataria, whose wife Banto is contesting her first election from the Ambala reserved seat.

Modi claimed that Congress and the INDIA bloc are trailing in the first four phases of the elections. He said that a strong government makes enemies think twice before acting, and mocked Pakistan, saying they now hold a “begging bowl” instead of a bomb.

Modi also accused Congress of neglecting farmers, comparing their crop purchases on MSP over ten years to his government’s much higher figures. He said Congress often betrayed farmers and ex-servicemen, delaying the ‘One Rank One Pension’ implementation for decades. Modi criticized Congress for defense sector scams, emphasizing that his government focused on self-reliance and now sells weapons to other countries.
