Preparations are in full swing for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, scheduled for June 9 at 7:15 pm. This event, taking place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, marks Modi's third term as Prime Minister of India. Numerous international leaders are expected to attend the grand ceremony.

Preparations at Rashtrapati Bhavan

The official YouTube channel of the President of India has released visuals showcasing the ongoing preparations at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The video shows workers setting up chairs for the guests, laying a lush red carpet, and installing portable air conditioners, coolers, and fans to combat the high temperatures in New Delhi. Security personnel are visible around the area, ensuring everything is in place for the event.

Security measures and attendees

The Delhi Police have put in place strict security measures across the capital for the swearing-in ceremony. Multi-layered security arrangements include five companies of paramilitary forces, NSG commandos, drones, and snipers around Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

Several international leaders have confirmed their attendance, including Sri Lanka's President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldives' Mohamed Muizzu, Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bhutan's Tshering Tobgay, Nepal's Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', and Mauritius' Pravind Kumar Jugnauth. Following the ceremony, these leaders will attend a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Narendra Modi and his council of ministers will take the oath of office administered by President Murmu. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won the recent Lok Sabha elections with 293 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party with 240 seats. The opposition, Indian National Congress, secured 99 seats.
