Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has announced the release date for her upcoming film, "Emergency." On Tuesday, Kangana took to Instagram to share a new poster of the film, which features her as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In the poster, she is seen looking away from the camera. The film is now set to release on September 6, 2024.

"Emergency" has faced several delays. Initially, the release was postponed due to the Lok Sabha Elections. The film, a political drama, is led, written, directed, and produced by Kangana Ranaut through her Manikarnika Films Production. It was originally scheduled for release on November 24, 2023, but has been rescheduled to September 6, 2024.
The film is described as depicting a crucial moment in India’s political history. Besides Kangana, it stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. Backed by Zee Studios, "Emergency" is produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana. The screenplay and dialogues are by Ritesh Shah, with music orchestrated by Sanchit Balhara.
Kangana has previously spoken about the importance of the film. According to ANI, she said, "Emergency is one of the most significant and darkest chapters in our history that young India needs to know. It is a crucial story, and I want to thank my super-talented actors like late Satish ji, Anupam ji, Shreyas, Mahima, and Milind for embarking on this creative journey together.
