The match was close, and India’s defense was robust, with PR Sreejesh making key saves and defenders blocking Belgian efforts. Despite this, Belgium eventually equalized and then took the lead. The crowd, mostly Indian supporters, cheered loudly as India held its ground.
India is currently leading Pool B, but Australia's recent 5-0 victory over New Zealand places them in second position, just behind India. India's final position in the pool depends on their last match against Australia and how Argentina performs in their final game against Belgium.
India's position will also be influenced by Argentina’s results. Germany, in the other group, is performing well and leads with four consecutive wins, outpacing The Netherlands.
