Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned following massive protests and fled to India. She arrived at Ghaziabad's Hindon Air Base near New Delhi in a C-130 Hercules aircraft.

All-Party Meeting in India

In response to the crisis, the Indian government called an all-party meeting on August 6 to discuss the situation. Key figures such as Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, S. Jaishankar, and Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi attended. S. Jaishankar briefed the meeting and noted the unanimous support from all parties.

The unrest in Bangladesh resulted in significant violence on Monday. At least 135 people were killed, with 96 dying from police firings. Additional deaths occurred in the Savar and Dhamrai regions near Dhaka. Over 500 people were injured and brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, with 70 admitted for treatment.

Looting and damage

Following Hasina’s departure, violence intensified, with people entering and looting the Ganabhaban, the Prime Minister’s residence. Reports also indicate crowds entering the Parliament building and taking items from inside.
