Neeraj Chopra made history at the Paris Olympics 2024, but it was a tough night for India's "Golden Boy." He aimed to win his second consecutive gold in men's javelin, a rare achievement seen only four times in Olympic history. However, his groin injury made it difficult, leaving him with just one successful throw in the final. This frustration showed, especially when he expressed anger after his second-to-last attempt.
Despite the injury, Neeraj managed a season-best throw of 89.45m, placing him in second behind Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m. Neeraj, the world champion, tried hard to reach the 90m mark but fouled five out of six attempts. After the competition, Neeraj admitted that the injury held him back, but he was still proud to win a medal for India.
Neeraj became India's first track-and-field athlete to win back-to-back Olympic medals and joins a prestigious group of Indian athletes with two Olympic medals.
